The Word of God is really letters that has been written to men by men through the power of the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 4:12 "For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper then any two edge sword piercing even to the division of the soul and spirit-is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." A long time ago a pastor told me to write my name through out the bible to make it personal to me. Example - James 1 says "count it all joy" my name is there "Becky, count it all joy". God did not create us to leave us here alone, He gave his Holy Spirit to guide us but He also left the instruction manual called the Bible. It will tell you what God thinks, how to please Him, future events. It is living, because when you read it, it will convict the soul and has power to save. He did not leave us to the wiles of religion but through His Word a road to a relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, His son Jesus Christ.
